Zusammenfassung:Ghirardini has estimated survival trends in 176 Italian haemophiliacs with AIDS and reported an increasing survival with time, which was possibly related to the introduction of antiretrovival therapy. Overall median survival was 17 months, and independent factors associated with a shorter survival period were age greater than or equal to 42 years, CD4+ counts < 200 x 10 super(6)/l, "non-infectious AIDS indicator diseases" and no antiretroviral therapy after diagnosis. We have assessed the survival in a group of 1205 AIDS patients diagnosed consecutively at the Clinic of Infectious Diseases in Milan between 1984 and 1994.
