Surveillance of norovirus in Portugal and the emergence of the Sydney variant, 2011–2013

Highlights • First report of the surveillance of Norovirus associated diarrhea in Portugal. • GII.4 was the most common genotype among hospitalized patients with acute diarrhea. • GII.4 Sydney 2012 was the predominant strain between April 2012 and May 2013.
