Zusammenfassung:At the end of the seventeenth century, the Society of Jesus meditated deeply on how to teach classical languages. In this «aggiornamento» of the Jesuit Ratio studiorum, exponent of his propaedeutics, the publication of the book De ratione discendi et docendi, writed by J. Jouvancy, was vitally important. Years later, in Spain, F. J. Idiáquez from the College of Humanities of Villagarcía de Campos (Valladolid,) taking over from his French brother, developed his work Prácticas e Industrias para promover las Letras humanas, which tried to solve the problem of the teaching of Latin in Hispanic lands.
