Zusammenfassung:Recent advances in orbital reconstruction have concentrated on devising new methods to restore the natural configuration of the orbit. The goals of repair are to preserve or restore not only esthetic form but also the function of structures within and around the orbit. Although refinement of rigid fixation systems has certainly improved results, the focus most recently has been on the use of new alloplastic materials. Autogenous materials, however, continue to be popular. Improved techniques, in general, have led to more satisfactory results; however, complications associated with new materials and techniques are important considerations in selecting the best procedure.
