Zusammenfassung:We read with interest the paper by Gasser et al. who describe the development of pancreatitis in patients with leishmaniasis who were being treatment with pentavalent antimonial agents. We describe a patient with relapsing visceral leishmaniasis who developed pancreatitis and pancreatic necrosis during treatment of visceral leishmaniasis with pentavalent antimony. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of pancreatitis due to treatment with pentavalent antimony in an HIV-seropositive patient with visceral leishmaniasis, and it is the first report of associated pancreatic necrosis.
