Zusammenfassung:Gram-positive cocci are frequent pathogens in nosocomial infections. The spread of oxacillin resistance in staphylococci has been documented worldwide, and glycopeptide resistance of enterococci has been reported in the USA. Decreased susceptibility of coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS) to teicoplanin has also been reported occasionally. These changes in the resistance of gram-positive cocci to antibiotics represent a serious problem. In order to obtain additional data for the optimal treatment of nosocomial infections, we conducted a multicenter study of resistance to antibiotics, especially glycopeptides, in nosocomial gram-positive cocci.
