Zusammenfassung:N-methylurea doped benzimidazole single crystals were grown by vertical Bridgman technique (VBT) for the first time. The grown crystals were subjected to powder X-ray diffraction analysis for the confirmation of crystal system and lattice parameter. The transmission spectrums were recorded for both crystals and found that the doped crystal has more transparency than the pure. The photoluminescence study was carried out by using PL spectrophotometer and mechanical strength has been analyzed by Vicker's hardness tester. The laser damage threshold results and relative second harmonic generation efficiency studies reveals doped sample is showing better performance for nonlinear optical applications. Thermal studies clearly indicate about the stability of pure and doped samples at higher temperature regions.
