Zusammenfassung:Gotcha: The binding and activation of oxygen by a manganese complex is reported. A PS3 coordination sphere built around a manganese(I) center facilitates the isolation of a monomeric manganese(IV) peroxo complex that is stable at ambient temperature (see picture). The activation of molecular oxygen is proposed via a manganese(II) intermediate with an empty site for the binding of the substrate.
