On the significance of cibarial armaments as taxonomic features in some Central European black fly species

In 19 Central European simuliid species, the cibarial armaments were examined for classification. Sometimes indeed, they serve as helpful supplementary traits, but up to now, investigations indicate that they do not represent morphological features by which different species or even higher taxa could be distinguished throughout.
