Zusammenfassung:The New York Academy of Sciences conference "DNA Damage: Effects on DNA Structure and Protein Recognition" was the first conference organized specifically to bring structural biologists working on the physical biochemistry of DNA and protein molecules together with DNA repair enzymologists and biologists. The conference focused on DNA and protein structure, with particular emphasis on how DNA damage alters the conformation of DNA and how known protein motifs interact with DNA, how DNA replication and recombination proteins interact with normal and damaged DNA molecules, and recognition and removal of DNA damages by DNA repair proteins. A highlight of the conference program was a workshop on computational biology.
