Evaluating the utility of hexapod species for calculating a confidence interval about a succession based postmortem interval estimate

Highlights • We present the first probabilities for time since death based on insect succession. • Few of the 266 hexapod species observed could support a confidence interval. • Postmortem interval estimation was more precise using two instead of one species.
