New titanate matrices for immobilization of REE–actinide high-level waste
The phases with different structures formed in the series REE 2 Ti x Zr 2− x O 7 ( x = 0–2) are considered as potential high-level waste (HLW) forms. Matrices were synthesized by cold pressing and sintering. The ceramics were studied by XRD, SEM/EDS, TEM, XAFS. The sample based on monoclinic REE 2...

(1 MeV). The appearance of the additional monoclinic compound to pyrochlore is observed in the samples at

is characterized by high isomorphic capacity with respect to REEs. Its radiation resistance is close to Ti-pyrochlores. Monoclinic REE titanate requires further examination as potential host phase for HLW immobilization. |
