Effect on the development of Pinus caribaea seedlings of certain plant-parasitic nematodes from the savanna area of Nigeria

Zusammenfassung:Seedlings of Pinus caribaea, grown in 24 cm mouth diameter pots, were inoculated separately with each of six nematode genera and left to grow for 6 months in the greenhouse. Fewer Hemicriconemoides spp. and Tylenchus spp. were observed 6 months after inoculation. Inoculation of seedlings with Scutellonema led to increased root growth. Root and top weights of seedlings grown in the soil infested with Criconemella spp. were not significantly reduced. High inoculum density of Xiphinema and Rotylenchus caused a significant reduction of root and top weights of seedlings.
