STUDIES ON OXIDATIVE PHOTODEGRADATION OF EPOXY RESINS BY ATTENUATED TOTAL REFLECTANCE INFRARED SPECTROSCOPY
The degradation of a commercial cured resin took place essentially by formation and decomposition of carbonyl groups and by opening of epoxide groups. Surface changes indicated marked breakdown of the cross-linked network. This effect was produced with any of three ultraviolet lamps that differed in...

Zusammenfassung: | The degradation of a commercial cured resin took place essentially by formation and decomposition of carbonyl groups and by opening of epoxide groups. Surface changes indicated marked breakdown of the cross-linked network. This effect was produced with any of three ultraviolet lamps that differed in their spectral properties. Hence, these investigations offer clues to the mechanism of epoxy polymer degradation by sunlight. 10 refs. |
