Zusammenfassung: | The DELWAQ-BLOOM-SWITCH model developed as a tool for eutrophication control in shallow lakes is introduced. The model considers nutrients, algal biomass and composition, and water transparency data, and a module simulating interactions between water and sediment provides flexibility to treat measures such as declines in external phosphorus loading. Functional aspects of the scheme are illustrated in a case study of Lake Veluwe in the Netherlands. The beneficial impacts of external loading reductions and flushing during winter were accurately predicted. |
