Zusammenfassung: | Recent studies have conrmed that about 510 % of adult patients who are initially diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus have GAD autoantibodies (GADA) [13]. However, the assessment in these previous studies was in a cross-sectional manner; GADA was assessed only at one point in time. It was possible that these GADA-positive patients were already positive at the onset of diabetes and actually belonged to undiagnosed type 1 diabetes. It remains to be uncovered whether GADA will change to positive after the onset of diabetes in GADA-negative patients with presumed type 2 diabetes. |
