Zusammenfassung: | The article summarizes basic information about shame and its function as a guardian of human dignity. It is shown that while being shamed the human brain regresses to primitive reactions like: attacking, fleeing, and hiding. The arising thesis is, that pedagogical and social work with students shouldn't have the aim to abolish shame rather than turning shameful experiences into constructive stimuli. The transformation of shameful experiences into constructive stimuli has to be grounded on a good teacher/social worker-student-relationship. Therefore there have to be consequences for the qualification of teachers and social worker and the surrounding conditions of school. Adapted from the source document |
