Hierarchical Approaches to the Study of Water Quality in Rivers

Water quality in large rivers can be managed with the use of a two-stage approach. Pollutant watersheds are first identified with the use of coarse-resolution data. Smaller watersheds critical for pollution control actions are then identified with a high-resolution distributed modeling technique.
