Anxiolytic efficacy of repeated oral capsaicin in rats with partial aberration of oral sensory relay to brain

Highlights • Oral capsaicin improved anxiety behaviours of the lingual nerves transected rats. • Oral capsaicin increased stress axis activity of the lingual nerves transected rats. • Hippocampal neural plasticity may mediate the anxiolytic efficacy of oral capsaicin.
