Record of a newly introduced fish, red-bellied pacu Piaractus brachypomus (Cuvier, 1818) (Characiformes, Serrasalmidae), in a tropical wetland system, India

In this paper we report the occurrence of Piaractus brachypomus for the first time in Vembanad Lake of India and focus on the urgent need of remedial measures to prevent the further spread of this species in natural waters.
