Sterols of Polyneura hilliae

The major sterol of Polyneura hilliae is a C 27-sterol (cholesterol). The composition of total sterols is nearly identical in the three types of thalli investigated (male and female gametophytes and tetrasporophytes) but four additional sterols are present in female gametophytes.
