Zusammenfassung:The techniques of infrared (IR) and Raman spectroscopy are compared with particular emphasis on their use in water analysis. IR spectroscopy can be used for quantitative analysis provided that the analyte can be extracted into a non-aqueous solvent. Resonance Raman spectroscopy can be used for in-situ qualitative analysis. Examples of the use of both techniques are given.
