Zusammenfassung: | Low frequency mechanical studies have reported the contribution of stress-induced electrical potentials to bone metabolism. However, the healing mechanism of bone fractures by low intensity ultrasound is not yet clear. We demonstrate that bone can generate electrical potentials by ultrasound irradiation in the MHz range. Electrical potentials were obtained from the output of bovine cortical bone transducers. In the range of 0.7-2.5 MHz, sensitivities of bone transducers were around 1/1000 of a poly (vinylidene fluoride) ultrasonic transducer and did not depend on magnitude and alignment of hydroxyapatite crystallites in bone. |
