Zusammenfassung:	This study aimed to evaluate the formation and the morphology of the fibrous iron -whiskers - in iron ore pellets under a reducing atmosphere with 100% CO. It was also evaluated the influence of the compartment used to perform the swelling test, for pellets with 0.8 of binary basicity. Samples with different swelling index were examined by Optical Microscopy and Scanning Electronic Microscopy, which allowed identify the relationship between the swelling index and the stage of formation of the whiskers.
