Zusammenfassung: | A variety of low-cost Ti alloys were synthesised by blending elemental Ti and Fe powders. The influence of the Fe content and the particle size of Fe additions on the mechanical properties of the alloys are discussed. Coarse Fe particles seemed to diminish the sinterability of the samples, whereas fine Fe particles improved the sinterability due to a different sintering mechanism that depends on the size of Fe particles. The mechanical properties of the sintered materials depended strongly on their densities, and the relationships between the mechanical properties and sintered density were calculated for the tested materials, demonstrating improved properties in those materials made with fine Fe additions. |
