Zusammenfassung: | This article examines how to situate Catholic Pentecostalism, or the Catholic Charismatic Renewal as its leaders began to say within the first several years of its existence, within the landscape of contemporary Christianity. The larger Pentecostal movement that began in the United States at the beginning of the twentieth century is based on the experience of 'Baptism in the Holy Spirit' and exercise of the 'spiritual gifts' that are the fruits of this experience. It has spread throughout the world in a variety of forms and has generated an extensive literature (Coleman 2000; Csordas 1997; Hollenweger 1972; Poewe 1994; Robbins 2004; Synan 1987, 1997).
