Zusammenfassung: | This article analyzes the impact on employment brought about by the changes in the manufacturing sector or the production subsector caused by the 2009 crisis. Using panel data information, a fixed-effects model is applied to visualize the impact that production has on qualified and unqualified labor. The results indicate that during periods of crisis or low demand, firms tend to retain skilled employees and make unskilled workers redundant, affecting primarily traditional and maquila industries that intensively use unskilled labor.
