Zusammenfassung: | India in general and Odisha in particular possesses a rich genetic diversity of aromatic rice (Oryza sativa L.) varieties whose cultivation is limited to localized pockets in all most all the states and districts. These aromatic specialty rices enjoy unique aroma, cooking and eating qualities. Due to lack of seed purity, these varieties, though possess desirable grain quality; do not fetch good market value to the farmers. These traditional landraces that were conserved by the local population needs purification as the populations maintained by them over years tend to display variability in important characters like plant height, duration, grain quality and hence cause loss in productivity. |
