Zusammenfassung:Alcaligenes xylosoxidans subspecies xylosoxidans is an opportunistic pathogen that occasionally causes serious disease. We report a case of nosocomially acquired, bacteremic, necrotizing pneumonia with empyema in a young, previously healthy patient. The patient was successfully treated with chest tube placement and long-term antimicrobial therapy.
