H-PGD Synthase (H-PGDS) Gene Expression Increases in Eosinophils of Aspirin Exacerbated Respiratory Disease (AERD) Patients after Oral Graded Aspirin Challenge

Rationale 10% of adult asthmatics suffer from AERD, characterized by adult onset of moderate to severe asthma and nasal polyps, peripheral and tissue eosinophilia, and a hypersensitivity reaction (bronchospasm, rhinorrhea, and/or conjunctivitis) in response to cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) inhibition.
