Zusammenfassung:The wheel-railway track contact phenomena determine the dynamic performances required for a safe transportation system. The present paper will present an actual analysis of the pressures and the sliding speeds that occur in the contact area between the wheel and the railway track underlining at the same time its importance in assuring the safety of transportation. The interaction between an axle-tree equipped with S78 type wheels and a railway track model UIC60 in relation to the contact area will be analyzed.
