Constraining the brane tension in Randall-Sundrum cosmology through gravitational waves from binary neutron stars

When describing our world as a brane embedded in a higher dimensional hypersurface (or bulk) we are led to consider the existence of some new parameters related to the extra dimension or to the brane itself, as the brane tension density parameter Ω λ . Zusammenfassung:When describing our world as a brane embedded in a higher dimensional hypersurface (or bulk) we are led to consider the existence of some new parameters related to the extra dimension or to the brane itself, as the brane tension density parameter Ω λ . We show that gravitational waves emitted by binary neutron stars can constrain the values that Ω λ might assume. Our approach is applied to the perspectives of Einstein Telescope gravitational wave detector and results in Ω λ ≤0.037, which is in agreement with other estimates obtained from different methods in the literature.
