Zusammenfassung: | Conventional polarization preserving cinema projection screens suffer from a number of issues that limit their optical performance. We describe the microscopic structure of these screens and how the different aspects of this structure interact to produce the primary screen properties of gain, viewing angle, stereo contrast, and appearance. We then present an engineered polarization‐preserving projection screen that addresses the limitations associated with conventional silver screens. This screen achieves substantially increased efficiency (brightness), increased stereo contrast, arbitrarily large viewing angle, and matte appearance. |
