Speech motor deficits in cerebellar infarctions

•We review the frequency of dysarthria in cerebellar infarctions.•The lesion topography of cerebellar lesions leading to dysarthria is reviewed.•Results of perceptual analysis of dysarthria is presented. Functional imaging studies demonstrated cerebellar activation during speech movements in the rostral cerebellar region. Ischemic lesions of this area, which is supplied by the superior cerebellar artery, induce dysarthria.
