Zusammenfassung:	Stimulated by the load following operation of French nuclear power plants, Framatome undertook thorough examinations of the control assemblies' behaviour. Equipment of various kind was developed for this purpose: on-site measuring devices, a stepping motion simulation bench, and a hydraulic test loop. The examinations have yielded knowledge on wear kinetics and made it possible to determine the currently enforced control assembly management criteria. They have also enabled corrective actions, viz., control rod surface hardening and the development of new guide tubes.
