Changes in selected indicators of liver impairment after repeated administration of mono- and polybromobenzenes in mice
Necrotic liver damage in mice was examined following repeated exposure to mono- and polybromobenzenes. Eight bromobenzenes were administered ip in sunflower oil daily over 7 d at doses of about 3.5, 7.0, 10.5, and 18.0% of their respective lethal doses. For all compounds, distinct changes were obser...

Zusammenfassung: | Necrotic liver damage in mice was examined following repeated exposure to mono- and polybromobenzenes. Eight bromobenzenes were administered ip in sunflower oil daily over 7 d at doses of about 3.5, 7.0, 10.5, and 18.0% of their respective lethal doses. For all compounds, distinct changes were observed for liver/total body weight ratio, but increased liver weight was found only at the two highest doses. However, high mortality occurred in mice administered 1,2,4,5-tetrabromobenzene at doses above 3.5%. The bromobenzenes exhibited no influence on the enzymatic markers of necrosis, alanine aminotransferase in blood, or on the histopathological evaluation. However, repeated administration caused a significant increase in delta -aminolevulinate synthase activity. |
