Zusammenfassung:This work aims to thematize the link between truth and freedom from the work History of Sexuality: An Introduction, written by Michel Foucault in 1976. To do this, I will examine how it happened the inscription of the truth of who we are in the record of our sexuality and how this resulted in a number of consequences for the extraction of this truth through the practice of confession (aveu) as talking about themselves. From this it follows an analysis of the main procedures used in confession, as well as a set of representations about the power and the truth that are present in the production of what Foucault called sexuality device. Finally, I present some ways to rethink the impasse proposed by Foucault on the question of freedom arguing that, in the context of sexuality device, the issues related to freedom are treated in terms of authenticity whenever they are regarded in the form of release.
