Genetic relationships among the genes for lipoxygenase -1, -2 and -3 isozymes in soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) seed
Genetic studies were conducted to elucidate relationships among genes for the soybean seed lipoxygenases, L-1, L-2 and L-3. Crosses were made between normal cultivars and a line lacking L-1, L-2 and L-3, and between the line lacking L-3 and the line lacking L-1, L-2 and L-3. Analysis of F sub(2) pro...

Zusammenfassung: | Genetic studies were conducted to elucidate relationships among genes for the soybean seed lipoxygenases, L-1, L-2 and L-3. Crosses were made between normal cultivars and a line lacking L-1, L-2 and L-3, and between the line lacking L-3 and the line lacking L-1, L-2 and L-3. Analysis of F sub(2) progeny seeds indicated that the lx sub(3) locus was independent of the lx sub(1) and lx sub(2) loci, respectively, being consistent with the previous results. The lx sub(1) and lx sub(2) loci were inherited as if they were on the same loci. From the above crosses, we could not find the expected phenotype due to recombination, ant the segregation ratio fitted well to the theoretical ratio based on tight linkage of the lx sub(1) and lx sub(2) loci. These results indicated that the seeds lacking L-1 and L-2 were not lethal in the process of seed development and that the absence of the seeds lacking l-1 and L-2 and the seeds lacking L-1, L-2 and L-3 from cross breeding was no more than tight linkage between the lx sub(1) and lx sub(2) loci. |
