Zusammenfassung:While in Europe, as a whole, acquired immune deficiency syndromes (AIDS) is predominantly a disease of male homosexuals, in some south European countries (Italy, Spain), intravenous drug abusers are the most affected population group. This holds true for Yugoslavia as well: of 94 identified AIDS cases, 36 (or 38.2%) have been drug addicts. The risk of developing HIV infection is very unequal in different parts of Yugoslavia. It is by far the highest in Belgrade and depends, in general, on the time of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) important into the area, cultural and religious influences, number of drug addicts, etc.
