Porritoxin, a phytotoxin of Alternaria porri

The culture liquid of Alternaria porri afforded a novel benzoxazoeine derivative, porritoxin, whose structure was determined by spectroscopic methods. It inhibited seedling growth in lettuce at a concentration of 10 ppm.
