Zusammenfassung: | Exposure of Chlorella vulgaris, Selenastrum capricornutum, Scenedesmus quadricauda (2 strains), and Scenedesmus acutus to paraquat gave different growth patterns according to the species. The 96 h EC50 for C. vulgaris, S. capricornutum, S. acutus, S. quadricauda (CCAP 276/21) and S. quadricauda were 0.14, 0.67, 0.047, 1.30 and 0.22, respectively. Because of these results, the use of paraquat in the recommended range (0.1-2 mg paraquat per litre) for aquatic weed control would cause acute and chronic damage to the natural green algae populations. |
