Zusammenfassung: | A new method to synthesize titanium carbide (TiC) from polysiloxanes and titanium (Ti) by employing an in situ reaction is presented. The factors, such as, the annealing temperature and Ti particle size, were found to play a significant effect on the phase composition, structure, thermal behavior, and textural morphology of as-prepared TiC. Moreover, the relative intensity ratio (RIR) method was applied to evaluate the phase purity of TiC. Results demonstrated that the phase purity of the TiC prepared at 1400°C for 2h under the argon atmosphere is approximately up to 100%, confirming the feasibility of the presented new method.
