Zusammenfassung:	Highlights • Piperine is an alkaloid found in black pepper. • Piperine inhibits the growth of human breast cancer cells without affecting the growth of normal mammary epithelial cells. • Piperine inhibits cell cycle progression and induces caspase-dependent apoptosis via the mitochondrial pathway. • Piperine inhibits matrix metalloproteinase-2 and -9 mRNA expression, as well as breast cancer cell migration. • Piperine inhibits the growth of breast cancer xenografts in immune-deficient mice.
