The purpose of this oversimplification is to create a map, a framework to keep us from being lost in the details and losing sight of the societal and scientific goals which lead us to create visualizations in the first place. When the impressive demonstrations of technology are over and we have all had a chance to find out what some of those lengthy acronyms mean, we will be faced with complex decisions affecting the fate of the environment. |
