Zusammenfassung:The larvae of six species of Brachyura have been successfully hatched by detaching the eggs from the female, placing them in compartmented boxes, and maintaining them on an Eberbach variable speed shaker at constant temperatures at different salinities. In addition to providing thousands of normal larvae of known species for experimental pruposes, the method has the following advantages: it provides adequate aeration, prevents the spread of fungi and protozoans throughout the egg mass, and permits the use of a relatively small number of eggs from the same animal in a limited space.
