Analysis of genomic sequences encoding a sex pheromone from the Closterium peracerosum-strigosum-littorale [Chlorophyceae] complex

Genes for 10-kDa and 42-kDa subunits of protoplast-release-inducing protein (PR-IP) were cloned from the Closterium peracerosum-strigosum-littorale complex mt+ cells. Genomic sequences and transcriptional initiation sites for both genes were determined. Sequence data revealed that typical TATA boxes...

Zusammenfassung:Genes for 10-kDa and 42-kDa subunits of protoplast-release-inducing protein (PR-IP) were cloned from the Closterium peracerosum-strigosum-littorale complex mt+ cells. Genomic sequences and transcriptional initiation sites for both genes were determined. Sequence data revealed that typical TATA boxes are located immediately upstream of both transcriptional initiation sites. Several similar sequences were observed at nearly the same location in the promoters of both genes. Based on thee data, we propose some possible hypotheses regulating the expression of the PR-IP subunit genes
