Lake Ecological Security and Assessment Methodology Framework

Lake ecosystems and lake ecosystem security are thoroughly described, and a assessment methodology framework for lake ecosystem security is developed. The assessment methodology framework addresses the main ecological security problems currently existing in China' s lakes,and the impacts of human activities on lake ecosystems. The framework includes assessments of lake ecosystem health, impacts of social and economic activities in the watershed on the lake ecosystem, lake ecosystem service functions, ecosystem disasters, as well as an integrated assessment based on all four aspects. The assessment framework not only acts as a method for integrated assessment of lake ecosystem security, but also reflects the relationship between lake ecosystem security and the four noted aspects of lake water ecosystems. Therefore, this framework can be used to identify the limiting factors impacting overall lake ecosystem security.
