Zusammenfassung:	The performance of a box-type floating breakwater is studied. The implementation of simplifying assumptions concerning the flow beneath a pontoon-type floating breakwater, leads to an analytical solution of the two-dimensional linearized hydrodynamic problem. Comparison of the analytical results with a numerical solution of the full linear problem shows good agreement over a wide range of parameters.
