Zusammenfassung: | The application of 2 mathematical models to simulate the fate and transport of oil released at or near Mina Al-Ahmadi, Kuwait, between January and May 1991 by Iraqi occupying forces was examined. The oil spill trajectory model GULFSLIK II was used in an operational real-time mode to predict the surface trajectory of spills at various locations. The trajectory analysis was used to support the tactical spill response. The oil spill fate and transport model OILPOL was used to compute surface and subsurface distributions of oil and to analyse its fate. Agreement between OILPOL predictions and observational data was excellent. |
