Edification processes of an interlobe unit: application to the Rhone deep-sea fan (France)

The Rhone deep-sea fan is formed by the superposition of lenticular units, sedimentary ridges or fan lobes This study deals with a depositional unit adjacent to the main fan called "Unite Interlobe". Bathymetric data (Seabeam), high resolution seismic profiling (Airgun, Sparker and 3.5 kHz...

Zusammenfassung:The Rhone deep-sea fan is formed by the superposition of lenticular units, sedimentary ridges or fan lobes This study deals with a depositional unit adjacent to the main fan called "Unite Interlobe". Bathymetric data (Seabeam), high resolution seismic profiling (Airgun, Sparker and 3.5 kHz) supplemented by piston-core sampling show that the "Unite Interlobe" is a composite construction, of relatively recent age, resulting from alternating channelization and slumping processes.
